Equal prize money for female athletes in 2024

Female track and light field athletes at the 2024 Halkirk Games will be competing in more dedicated open events for females. The number of events (8 in total covering 5 races and 3 jumping events) and the prize money will now be the same for male and female athletes. 1st prize = £75. 2nd prize = £50. 3rd prize = £35. 4th prize = £25. 5th prize = £15. The committee has juggled the timings to squeeze in the extra events.

There will also be dedicated females events in the junior category (14 and 15 years) for 85m, 200m, 400m, long jump and high jump. 1st prize = £30. 2nd prize = £25. 3rd prize = £20. 4th prize = £15. 5th prize = £10.

The increase in the number of events means that the total prize pot is in excess of £20,000 (excluding money for breaking records) and is believed to be the highest in Scotland.

Competitors can simply turn up on the day, but must sign in at the registration desk before 12 noon in order to compete. The first race (85m) starts at 12.25pm.
