England’s Scott Rider blew away the competition to become the 2016 World Invitational Heavy Events Champion at the Halkirk Highland Games today. He beat reigning champion Dan McKim, USA, into 2nd place and Matt Vincent, USA, into 3rd.

Scott also broke his own ground record in the 16lb shot with a throw just over 58′.

Apart from one or two light showers, the weather was near perfect for the 95 events that took place. Alan Hamilton, Edinburgh, broke the ground record in the high jump  with a leap of 6’2″ (1.88m). More news later.
