A total of 11 heavies from all over the world competed at Halkirk for the Royal SHGA world heavyweight championship. They were:

The winner was Halkirk’s own Jamie Gunn with 31 points.
2nd – Vlad Tulacek – 27 points
3rd – Sinclair Patience – 21 points
4th – Tomas Suchopar – 16 points
5th – Graham Hawthorne – 15 points
6th equal – Pieter Bouma and Matthew McDougall – 6 points
They competed in front of a crowd of over 3,000 spectators. The weather was a mixture of warm sunshine and clouds. It stayed dry until there was a torrential downpour during the last event – tossing the caber. Jamie was presented with the RSHGA gold medal by the Games Chieftain, The Rt. Hon. the Viscount Thurso.
